Hair Tips for Winning Winter

Sometimes the winter weather can wreak havoc on our hair – between the cold outside, the artificial heating inside, the caps and the like – our hair can really need a little care.

Beauty by Australia cares about your hair, so we’ve put together OUR TOP 10 TIPS to win winter hair:

Turn down the hot water in the shower – having the water too hot is not good for our hair and can actually dehydrate it.

Washing your hair 2-3 times a week can prevent your hair and scalp from drying out. Why is this important? A dry scalp can lead to dandruff and scalp irritation, which, in turn, can lead to increased hair loss.

Use a hair oil treatment regularly. Leave the treatment on for 20 minutes, rinse, then shampoo and condition your hair as usual.

Double the conditioner during the cooler weather. If you live in a particularly cold place, you should consider using a deep conditioner or a leave-in treatment.

If you usually blow-dry your hair, make sure to always use a heat protection product.

Whenever possible, let your hair air dry. Limit your use of hair dryers and flat irons.

If you’re short on time, blow-dry your hair on a cool setting and use a pre-styling spray or leave-in conditioner.

Remember to wear a hat or beanie when going out and never go out with wet hair during the winter – this is not good for your overall health, but it can still cause the hair to freeze and break.

Cut your hair regularly to eliminate dry and brittle ends.

Eating a balanced diet and staying hydrated is good for you and your hair – this will go a long way in making your hair look and feel healthy.
